Empowering Villagers through Accountable & Transparent Gram Panchayats

In most of the democratic countries of the world, the Definition of Democracy is, “Government by the people, of the people and for the people”. However, in today’s India, the definition needs to be changed: “Government by the people’s representatives, of the people’s representatives and for the people’s representatives”.

These elected and employed representatives in the government are doing less to people and more to themselves, and the general feedback received thus far indicates that the trickling down of monetary grants and services is seldom more than 20 to 30 percent of the intended value.

It is time to give back the Government to be managed by the people by providing them with technological support to monitor what is happening inside their governments. This feedback and monitoring system is expected to empower the citizens with information to understand what is happening in their governments and allow them to participate in developing a roadmap for their communities’ future.
