Do you know about the decentralization of power for local governments in India?

Once India got its independence in 1947, the three level Panchayat system was introduced as a decentralized form of government in which each village would be responsible for its own affairs.

However, it is evident that there are serious drawbacks in the prevalent system. Our citizens have no information about the affairs going on within the gram panchayats. There is no inclusivity when it comes to decision making, and the very system has become stagnant with no growth since it was introduced.

Sampoorna Swaraj Foundation is working on bringing an integrated technological approach to these problems which will make our local governments function at full potential as it should. We have studied and identified that it is key to educate our citizens about their rights, responsibilities and duties. As citizens of a democratic nation, we aim to enable our citizens to involve them and help them make informed decisions which fulfils the promise of democracy.
